AI-generated illustration of rooftop panels on a villa-style roof, not a documented installation.
A solar panel warranty in Dubai does not automatically make a repair visit free. The manufacturer's remedy for a covered module defect and the cost of diagnosing, removing and reinstalling that module can be separate. In one published JinkoSolar warranty, dismantling, repacking and installation costs are explicitly the customer's responsibility.[2] Before buying, ask who covers those costs under your installer contract, not just how many warranty years appear on the quote.
This guide is for Dubai villa owners buying or maintaining a DEWA-connected system. It focuses on the repair-cost gap, not panel lifespan or a brand ranking. Manufacturer terms below are specific published examples, not confirmation that those documents govern every panel sold in the UAE.
A replacement panel is not a complete repair
Consider the work that might sit around a module replacement: a contractor attends, diagnoses the problem, obtains claim approval, accesses the roof, removes the module, handles transport, fits the replacement and checks the system. A promise to supply a panel does not, by itself, tell you which of those tasks is paid for.
JinkoSolar's bifacial-module limited warranty, revision EN20230401, makes that separation explicit. Section 2.2(b) says Jinko pays shipping costs for its remedy obligations on the stated delivery basis, while the customer bears dismantling, repacking, installation, reinstallation and related expenses. That is a defined shipping commitment, not a promise to pay every local repair cost.[2]
LONGi's EcoLife distributed-generation warranty dated December 2025 similarly allocates dismantling, repacking, installation and reinstallation costs to the customer unless otherwise agreed in writing. Its delivery costs follow the original supply contract's delivery terms. This document comes from LONGi's European document service; ask for confirmation of the version and regional terms applicable to your UAE purchase rather than treating it as your warranty.[3]
These examples show why the labour question deserves its own answer. They do not establish a universal UAE rule. A separate installer undertaking may cover costs that a manufacturer's document excludes. Ask for both documents before signing.
Which promise covers which problem?
The distinction between module product and performance warranties matters, but neither label tells you the complete cost of putting the system back into service. Jinko's example separates defects affecting the product from a warranted power-output curve measured under standard test conditions.[2]
Module product warranty: check the covered defect, available remedy and excluded service costs.
Module performance warranty: check the measurement method and claim procedure. Do not confuse a warranted module output with a guaranteed reduction in your electricity bill.
Installer workmanship warranty: ask whether it covers faults in the installation only, or also the labour for replacing manufacturer-warranted equipment.
Maintenance contract: ask whether cleaning and inspection include diagnosis, claim administration or corrective repairs, or whether those are separately chargeable.
DEWA's Shams Dubai FAQ places maintenance responsibility on the customer and requires a signed operation and maintenance contract with an enrolled provider as part of connection.[1] That requirement is not itself an undertaking by your maintenance provider to pay every warranty-related expense. Read the actual scope.
The repair-cost checklist to send with a quote
Alongside the 12-line-item solar quote checklist, request a written allocation for each item below. Use “included”, “excluded” or “chargeable under stated conditions”, with the responsible company named. “Subject to warranty” is not a useful allocation.
Call-out and diagnosis: who pays the first visit, and is that charge refunded if a covered defect is confirmed?
Access and removal: who pays for roof access equipment, safe removal and any disturbed mounting or roof interface?
Claim administration: who submits the manufacturer's claim, obtains approval and keeps you informed?
Testing and transport: who approves a laboratory test or return shipment, pays initially and bears the cost if the claim is rejected?
Refitting and checks: who pays for installation of the replacement, system checks and any required project-specific paperwork?
Limits: does the undertaking have a time limit, visit limit, monetary cap or exclusions? What happens after the installer's own cover expires?
For a flat roof, put reinstatement of any affected roof interface into the same conversation. Our solar mounting and waterproofing checklist helps separate equipment cover from roof responsibility.
If a panel problem has already appeared
Report it promptly in writing, but do not arrange an unapproved return or start dismantling. Jinko's cited document asks for notice no later than 30 days after learning of a suspected breach, with purchase evidence, module identity, location and supporting material. It also says an unauthorised return leaves the customer bearing associated risks and expenses.[2] Check your own document's deadline; do not assume every manufacturer uses the same one.
Ask your installer or maintenance provider to identify the suspected cause, the relevant warranty and the proposed chargeable work. Request written authorisation before a laboratory test: under Jinko's example, the customer can become liable for specified testing costs if a breach is not established.[2] An inspection is not automatically proof of a covered panel defect.
Keep the invoice, applicable warranty, recorded serial numbers, commissioning documents, maintenance reports and monitoring exports together. The Dubai solar owner handover pack explains what to retain from day one. Ask the contractor for missing equipment records rather than climbing onto the roof to find labels.
DEWA warns that electrical installation, operation and maintenance should be carried out only by qualified solar PV electricians from enrolled consultants or contractors.[1] Do not unplug connectors, open equipment or remove a panel yourself. You can gather dates and monitoring records without touching the system.
The question that makes quotes comparable
For a manufacturer-covered panel defect, please confirm who pays for diagnosis, roof access, removal, claim administration, testing, transport, reinstallation and final checks. State which costs your company includes, the duration and limits of that cover, and which costs remain mine if the manufacturer accepts or rejects the claim. Attach the warranty applicable to the exact model and UAE supply route.
There is no verified standard Dubai labour price in this guide. Obtain the installer’s actual terms rather than relying on a made-up repair allowance. If you are comparing new installations, request Dubai solar quotes with warranty labour clearly specified. A shorter but clearly scoped service promise may be more useful to you than a longer headline warranty that leaves the repair bill unanswered.
